NAGA CITY (26-Aug-2012/PNA) – The remains of the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo arrived in his hometown of Naga City at 9:10 a.m. Sunday.
His family arrived five minutes earlier on board an Airphil chartered flight.
Secretaries Ricky Carandang and Manolo Quezon were with the family.
Robredo’s remains were flown to Malacanang Friday from Naga City for a two-day wake.
It was accorded departure honors at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City and Malacañang earlier today.
President Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III led the departure honors for the late DILG chief.
Robredo’s remains will be escorted to Naga City Hall after arrival honors at Naga Airport from the Philippine National Police.
Mass will be offered at 11 a.m., and necrological services by the Camarines Sur/Naga Pastors and Ministry Leaders at 2 p.m.
Public viewing and vigil will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Another Mass will be held at 5 p.m., and necrological service at 7 p.m.
The public viewing and vigil will resume from 9 p.m. to midnight.
Robredo’s funeral cortege left Malacañang 7:14 a.m.
A mass was also held before dawn Sunday for Robredo in Malacañang’s Kalayaan Hall.
Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle led the celebration of the Mass attended by Robredo’s family and close family friends.
In his homily, Tagle lauded Robredo for his commitment to faith by going to confession two to three times a month more frequently than some priests. (PNA)
