SORSOGON CITY (BicolToday.com/22-June-12) – “I’m not affected as of now”, this was the reaction of Sorsogon City Vice-Mayor Robert Ante-Lee Rodrigueza when queried by the members of Sorsogon tri-media yesterday after presiding the fourth city council session about the acidic accusation of City Mayor Leovic Dioneda on how Governor Raul Lee administer the province of Sorsogon which is now saddled by millions of loans.
After the session, Rodrigueza took upon himself to meet the city eldermen to know their sentiments about the supposed rift between Mayor Dioneda and his father Governor Lee, he concluded that they are likewise distancing themselves from the issue, for now, focusing on legislative works instead to be drag in the word war of the camps.
The city vice-mayor has no personal quarrel with the members of the city council more so with Mayor Dioneda, thus, he’s in a comfort zone of his office that made public service a priority. He said “in 2010 campaign, I promise that politics will not be my agenda, it is public service that I want to pursue if ever elected”.
“There are people who wants the issue to flare-up like wild fire, they have a bigger interest who are fueling the issue that Mayor Dioneda is readying himself for a head-on fight with Governor Lee”, I have to hear personally form the mayor any word on that issue”, Rodrigueza said. Adding, that he intends to meet the mayor to clarify his position, in fact he tried to see him yesterday, but the mayors schedule was tight.
If he is to choose which interest to follow, that of his father political savviness or the knife like intentions of his fathers detractor, he has this to say, ” I go where the interest of the people is best serve”, but adding, that it is for everyone’s interest that the informal coalition remains.
Rodrigueza is in an ackward position. His election in 2010 was a product of the coalition between his father, Governor Lee and that of the Escudero’s who is a close political ally of Dioneda. He presides a city council majority of the members are kowtowing the political line of Mayor Dioneda. He is steering a council meeting on a thin line after the public pronouncement of the city mayor that criticizes Governor Lee that most of the political watchers were caught off-guard.
